WebSimilarly, they could possibly tell if you hit Ctrl+t to open a new tab (though probably not since it's browser dependent if this behavior is supported), but they can't tell that you hit the plus button next to a tab to add a new one, because that is outside of the sandbox in which the webpage lives.
