WebA trick I use is to drop the layers so you can see inside the object, bore out that way. Make sure the hole length is long enough or it'll fail. This is what I do as well. You can see if the cylinder showing where the hole will be dug is hitting walls, etc. Adjust the depth/diameter of the hole so it clears the walls.
